About Me
- Name: tami
- Location: Maine, United States
I am a 40 something year old mother of 2. I have always been interested in crafts since my sister and I spent summer weeks with my Grandmother, who was a very crafty lady, while my mother was in college. I mostly quilt since I seem to have an obsession with owning large quantities of fabric, but at one point or another think I have tried almost every craft out there.

Finally! I've had some time to quilt. Remember this? It has been a while. This is the quilt I am working on for a friend at work. She wants a duvet cover for her down comforter. This is being lined and backed with a buttoned open end. I got the borders on and lined it. I was going to get the backing on, but I couldn't remember which length would be the bottom to leave open for buttons. I'll ask her tomorrow at work so maybe I can finish it up this week.
I'm back on the stashbusting wagon.
Fabric in this week 0.
I just had to share this kitty picture. Every time I have ordered from Knitpicks my kitties have commandeered the box, usually not even waiting until it's empty. They are a great size for them to curl up in. We have 2 lined up in front of the fireplace and they move from one to the other and trade back and forth through the day. Misty for some reason the other day decided that she wanted to be in the same one with Dusky. I just couldn't resist getting a picture.

guess what i did yesterday
Yesterday was the teddy bear class that I signed up for after my birthday trip to the craft fair. I have always loved teddy bears, as evidenced by the number I have gracing my house. It was great fun. Here is a picture of our faceless, earless bears as we were heading to lunch. This is the first time I took adult ed classes in this town. They served us lunch from locally grown foods made by one of the other classes. It was run by a group that helps with and encourages home gardening. I was really impressed. They even gave us recipes for the pumpkin chocolate chip cookies they served. Yummy.
I tried to snap pictures of the others as they finished. Here is a showcase of the completed projects I got pictures of. I am kind of a perfectionist so I was the last one done. I didn't get a picture of mine until I got home so he's the one in the little chair. I spent last night searching the internet for bear making supplies. You just know that I am in desperate need of a new crafting hobby. Can you say ADD? I would really like to make more, but I am trying very hard to fight the urge. Mohair is around $100.00 a yard. I would have to want a lot of bears to make it worthwhile.

quickie post
Just a quick post before bed. I wanted to show off my cool drawing win from Paula. When I first started reading her post about her giveaway I wasn't going to enter because lets face it the last thing I need in my life is more fabric. Then she went and mentioned sock yarn. Now sock yarn is another whole entire story. I really need sock yarn. My sock yarn stash isn't nearly as extensive as my quilting fabric stash. This of course means that it can be housed it in one cabinet as opposed to three. I felt that I had to take the chance with sock yarn on the line and I won! Here is a picture of my winnings. Notice the baggie full of already pieced units. Great head start on some blocks. A Mary Englebreit needle card, snowman pattern and some homespun fabric. Great gift. Thank you so much Paula.
This is the sunset I drove home from work in tonight. Isn't it gorgeous? I had to get out my camera and take a picture as soon as I got home. I just wish I could have captured the color's of the fall leaves as well.
And last, but certainly not least I think I have mentioned before how few people I can brag to about my DD. Her company is dancing Swan Lake now and she has one of the important soloist parts. A review was done on last weekend's performances and she is mentioned as a "standout" in the article. I was hesitant about posting a link because I read on some one's blog recently how you shouldn't post things that can lead back to the person. I know there are tons of horror stories, but then I thought ANYONE can read the article online or in the paper if they wanted to so here it is.

does she actually blog anymore?
Yes, but not nearly as much as I would like to. Here is a picture of where I have been spending my time. See the marks on the chair where I have been tied to it? I have been working all day and then getting home and working another 3 hours or so before bed.
See how messy that cubicle is? My house is so much worse. It hasn't had a good cleaning for a long time. I decided a couple of weeks ago that I am going to get someone to come in one day a week just to vacuum and clean the bathrooms. I think that the relief of not tripping over the cat hair balls would relieve enough stress so I wouldn't be paralyzed with all that I have to do.
I had my whole weekend planned out, but I didn't get to any of the fun stuff. My tomatoes are all made into sauce and frozen and I brought my hot peppers inside. Frost came awfully early this year and I still have tons of green, red peppers. I am hoping they will survive to ripen.
