I am a 40 something year old mother of 2. I have always been interested in crafts since my sister and I spent summer weeks with my Grandmother, who was a very crafty lady, while my mother was in college. I mostly quilt since I seem to have an obsession with owning large quantities of fabric, but at one point or another think I have tried almost every craft out there.

bag swap

Last week my bag from Linda's bag/bucket swap arrived all the way from Australia from Sarah. If I could travel anywhere in the whole wide world it would be to Australia. I've always wanted to go there. I'm glad her hubby didn't convince her to keep it instead of send it off to me.
I've completed my bag (last minute again) and it is on it's way to its new owner. Hers is a blog I read regularly and I tried to do something that I thought she would really like and use. I sure hope she does.
I also completed my 11th round in our Round Robin. We are getting down to the end. Only 4 rounds left Next round I have to quilt. Luckily, it is small and I promise, promise, promise to start right away. I also have 3 UFO's that need finishing for Finn's challenge. I have a couple of almost finished Christmas presents so I think I can do it.
I started a new pair of socks this weekend. I had said I wasn't going to until I finished some other projects, but DH and I went with some friends because they wanted to buy a motorcycle. They had found a good deal on one, but neither of them have a license so DH had to test drive it. I knew there was going to be some waiting around during the test drive and then the deciding so I figured I needed something to work on. At least that's what I told myself. :cD

my needle is here :-D

My needle arrived while I was away. I was so excited to get my socks moved over and finished.
It was a nice trip to Harrisonburg. Very nice people and the weather was gorgeous. It is a really pretty part of the country. We drove through the Shenandoah National Park. I would have liked to have time to drive the Skyline drive, but I'll have to go back for that.
DS was home this weekend. He breezed through here last week while I was away. He was 3 days late returning from his job and getting to school. He had emailed his teachers so he wasn't expected. He didn't have time to pack his things, just grabbed what he absolutely needed and came home this weekend to really pack. While he was here I had him be my random number generator. Fiesta is the lucky winner of my green giveaway. You all had great ideas. Check out Howdy's idea for the reusable paper towels. Great way to bust some stash.
Misty was very happy to have her big brother home. For some reason she loves his boots (probably because he is allergic to her). I missed the picture of her trying to wear them. She puts both front paws in one and lays on the toe. As soon as I started taking pictures she decided she had to get out. Just like a cat, independent.

i'm off

I'm off on my business trip tomorrow. Anyone know of any good quilt or yarn shops in Harrisonburg, VA?
I finished my first 2 at a time pair of socks today after stalling out on my first pair for a broken needle. I was thinking of taking another pair to work on during my trip, but the airlines have changed their rules and you can no longer take knitting needles over 31 inches long. The ones I use for my 2 at a time socks are 47 so I'm not taking any chances of having them taken away. I'm still waiting for the replacements for the ones I broke. The shipping is being tracked and according to the tracking they are in MY post office. They will probably show up right after I leave tomorrow. :c(
DS will be home from his summer job tomorrow and he has to head straight off to school. His classes started today so he is going to be a little late. He emailed his teachers to make sure he won't have any problem. He tends to be a little blase about those things so I'm keeping my fingers crossed it won't.
There's still time to sign up for my giveaway. I'll be getting back on Friday late, so I will draw on Saturday. I'm thinking a nice warm pair of socks might be a nice for my next green giveaway.
