I am a 40 something year old mother of 2. I have always been interested in crafts since my sister and I spent summer weeks with my Grandmother, who was a very crafty lady, while my mother was in college. I mostly quilt since I seem to have an obsession with owning large quantities of fabric, but at one point or another think I have tried almost every craft out there.

last finish of the month

I just realized that tomorrow is the last day of the month and I haven't reported my second project finish yet. I had been waiting so I could post a picture along with it, but it is April's birthday present and I haven't seen her to give it to her yet. I'll post a picture when it won't ruin the surprise
This is a where I am on my co worker's quilt. I promised a picture so he could show his wife. I need to get it finished by Mother's Day. I'm not worried... Really.
I found out today why I am having so much trouble with motivation lately. Lisa posted about having the same inability to focus and feels it is Spring Fever. As I was reading I identified so strongly I figured . See it's not my fault! It's the Spring Fever. :-D

the swap has landed

My spring swap has arrived to Maria so I can reveal. I got a very nice thank you note and I think she really liked what I made.
I found the base pattern for this project bag in an Australian Homespun magazine. It just looked so springy. It's hard to tell, but the patchwork around the top is 4 connected hearts. I did some spring embellishment on the pockets. The little matching book is for needles. I included some matching fat quarters so she can make some other accessories if she wants to.
This is my first OPAM finish for April. :D
I didn't get any sewing done this weekend. I am 3 strips away from finishing the center of the quilt I am making for my coworker and I didn't get a single one of them sewn onto the quilt. We had a busy, busy weekend and I will post some on that later.
I just wanted to get my stashbusting report out there.

swap into spring

I am a little late, but my Spring Swap package is ready to head off to its recipient first thing in the morning. I hate being late, but sometimes it's unavoidable. Here is a little sneak preview since I hate to post with no pictures. I'll show better pictures when my partner receives it. It looks springy doesn't it? I so hope she likes it. I lurked on her blog to try and get some idea of what she would like and I hope I hit it right. I really enjoy doing swaps, I just always worry that the recipient won't like what I make. Fingers crossed.
This week's stashbusting wasn't great, but at least I am back to heading in the right direction.

am i lucky or what?

I got home from work and was so happy to see a package for me. I don't deserve it because I haven't mailed my Spring Swap to my partner yet, but lucky for me Marc is better at time management than I am. I ripped the ribbon off and then thought better of it and put it back on for its picture. This gift seemed to please the kitties as much as it did me. It took me 4 tries to get a picture without a kitty head in it. I'm not sure if Marc has kitties, a dog or if she laced the package with catnip, but they were all over it. After I opened it they were scuffling over who could rub and lay on the paper. It was so funny. I have left it on the floor and they run from the other room and slide into it.
Now for my part of the fun package. I can't believe how good Marc was to me. She made me a huge tote bag from my favorite Kansas Troubles fabrics. Then she threw in a second tote from Whimsicals fabrics. An adorable little ditty bag and a gorgeous stitchery. Some note cards and note paper and an Australian coin. She must have known that some day, some how I am going to go to Australia and wanted me to have something to spend. :D My card and bookmark both have teddy bears on them. It was so thoughtful of her to give me things so much like me.
Isn't everything gorgeous? I just love it all. So what do you think....am I lucky or what?
