About Me
- Name: tami
- Location: Maine, United States
I am a 40 something year old mother of 2. I have always been interested in crafts since my sister and I spent summer weeks with my Grandmother, who was a very crafty lady, while my mother was in college. I mostly quilt since I seem to have an obsession with owning large quantities of fabric, but at one point or another think I have tried almost every craft out there.

Tomorrow morning I take DH off to the airport not to see him again until probably Christmas. I've been trying to come up with things to do to keep myself busy while he is away. I've got quite a list of projects for Christmas gifts as well as things to finish up for us. Lets see how much I can keep myself motivated.
I've been pretty busy on my last day of vacation. Back to work in the morning after the airport. I have been weaving on the project I warped {{blush}} almost a year ago. I've made some pretty good progress in the last couple of days. I've also finished another project for my OPAM challenge. November has been a really good month. Another part of my nephew's Christmas gift is finished. Sorry, no picture. ;)
First of December tomorrow. I can start opening my advent swap. Woo hoo. Can't wait to see.

sometimes things seem so unfair
I am so annoyed. DH's work has decided to send him to Mobile, Alabama for 2 months. His job is not a travelling one and he rarely has to go anywhere. Usually when he does he has time to plan and he is gone for 2 days at the most. He was supposed to be told last week as he is leaving next Tuesday, but he now has only a week including a holiday to get everything ready. He had dentist and Dr. appointments for next month. Snow will start at any time and I am going to have to deal with that by myself. I am also going to have to do all of the Christmas shopping, deal with our frequent power outages and everything else without help. I am not looking forward to being alone for 2 months. If I can find someone to take care of my babies I might go down and work remotely for a week or 2. Does anyone know of anything fun to do in Mobile? Any really good quilt shops? His company has been rotating people in and out every 8 weeks. I want to know why we get stuck with the worst winter months?
My SSCS is on it's way to it's destination. Pictures have been sent to Chookyblue and I feel good getting all my swaps sent off , and on time. ;) I hope the recipients enjoy what I sent. My Advent swap arrived here today. I can't wait to get started opening all my little gifties. Maybe it will keep me occupied while DH is gone. :`(
I have so many finishes this week and I can't post pictures of any of them. :( Two finishes for my SSCS and part of my nephew's Christmas present. I can, however, count them as finishes for my OPAM Challenge! November is turning out to be a great month. Maybe I can win the drawing this month. :D

advent swap
My package is all ready and sent for my Advent Swap. As a happy side effect I also have my first OPAM challenge project for November. I had to open the big super secret Christmas day present after wrapping because I forgot to take a picture. Can't show it now, but I like how it came out so I wanted to be sure I could post it after my partner opens her package. This challenge was great fun. I had a lot more ideas of things to send and I wish I had thought of some of them earlier. I spent quite a while wrapping up all those little presents. I should have been wrapping right along as I bought things, but I've never been good at getting things done ahead.
And because I can't have a post without a picture here is the Don Quixote picture I "should" have put in my last post. The one I picked "looks like a recital picture." Oh well, I liked it. ;)

don quixote
My daughter is an amazing dancer if I do say so myself. ;-) I haven't seen her dance for a couple of years and it was so nice. I know ballet isn't everyone's cup of tea, but I sure wish I lived near Denver so I could see all of her shows. I made some friends in the audience who were also impressed with her dancing (at least that's what they told me). One had a six year old daughter who was so excited it was adorable. There are 3 acts in Don Q and after the second she was disappointed because she thought it was over. When I told her there was one more act she was all excited. The father gave me his card to have DD get in touch with him so he could have her babysit his daughter.
There was one little glitch in our trip. We left in the middle of 1.5 feet of snowfall and I guess Delta had pissed off the Denver International Airport de-icing team. We pushed back from the gate about 20 minutes behind schedule and since we had about 1 1/2 hour layover we weren't worried about catching our connecting. We then sat for 1 1/2 hours first in line to get de-iced while they took other planes from behind ours. Needless to say we did miss our connection and had to spend the night in Detroit. Of course the airline wouldn't spring for a hotel room since it was "weather related". I still love to travel, but getting there just isn't fun anymore since there are almost always flight problems. The airlines just don't have any care about customer service at all.
