I am a 40 something year old mother of 2. I have always been interested in crafts since my sister and I spent summer weeks with my Grandmother, who was a very crafty lady, while my mother was in college. I mostly quilt since I seem to have an obsession with owning large quantities of fabric, but at one point or another think I have tried almost every craft out there.

goals not met

Well it's been more than a week and I haven't worked on my HAD quilt at all. It's all DS's fault. :-D He came home from his summer job last Wednesday and we are trying to get him ready to go back to school. There were a lot of things that had to be taken care of that he needed to be here to do. Lets hope he doesn't break anything this year. At least not until after RPT.
My dad has been so anxious for DS to come home. He hadn't seen him much lately and wanted to get together. We had lunch and then went to see the visiting Liberty Ship. DH, DS and my dad all wanted to tour it. Frankly it wasn't high on my list of fun things to do on a Sunday so I came prepared. It was an absolutely gorgeous day so I brought a book, my iPod and a knitting project. I sat on the pier and entertained myself. Notice I said A knitting project instead of MY knitting. That's because I have the same problem with knitting as I do with quilting. I can't seem to finish anything. I'm thinking maybe I should do a pictorial inventory of my UFO's like Judy did. Could be I could shame myself into getting something completed. I think I'll give it a try. Look forward to a long UFO post......

doll quilts in my future

I've decided I really like doll sized quilts. They go together so fast. It's all ready to be marked, sandwiched and quilted. Anyone have any ideas for a quilting motif to put in the setting squares?
I think I got my quilting mojo back. :-D All week long I was so anxious to get home from work and sew. The only problem is I want to work on new projects instead of finishing up what I have half done. I think that maybe I should finish putting together that HAD leaf quilt. I only have about 5 squares left to assemble and then I can finish the top. It won't take me long once I get going. I think that will be my goal for this week. Wish me luck.

impatience

Here is the doll quilt April and I started on our weekend at home retreat. I finished my blocks tonight. I couldn't wait until it was put together to post it. I'm so happy with it so far. I have to cut the setting triangles for the outer edge and then get it put together. I'm going to hand quilt it. Goodness knows how long that is going to take me.
Pay no attention to the hour a day quilt from LAST OCTOBER on my design wall. I was going so well on it and I just stalled. It's been on my wall ever since hoping I will get back to it. I am going to finish it ....some day. I promise.

are we having fun yet?

Despite it being really, really hot and humid this weekend I had a great time. My friend April and I had an at home retreat with a little shopping thrown in for good measure. We went to the Maine quilt show last weekend and got inspired so we planned to sew at April's house part of this weekend. April recently finished a new sewing space in the basement of an addition they put on their house last summer. This is only my sewing machine and her ironing station because the picture I took of the other side of the room with the cutting station and stash cupboard didn't come out very well. That blur on the left is April. :-) She was walking by as I snapped the picture.
I have been loving all the doll quilts shown by all you bloggers so we decided to make one based on one of Jo Morton's Little Women club quilts. I can't remember which set, but it was a Puss in the Corner block set on point. We combed our stashes for suitable fabrics and started cutting. We cut double to share so we both have the same fabrics in our blocks, but we have combined them differently. So far we are both in love with the way they are coming out. I won't post a picture yet because we only have 12 out of the 30 blocks done, but look forward to pics later.
