I am a 40 something year old mother of 2. I have always been interested in crafts since my sister and I spent summer weeks with my Grandmother, who was a very crafty lady, while my mother was in college. I mostly quilt since I seem to have an obsession with owning large quantities of fabric, but at one point or another think I have tried almost every craft out there.

it's listed

Our house is on the market!! :oD
My Mom and Dad came up and spent the weekend to help get the house ready for sale. We all worked hard "staging" the house (I've been watching TLC). DH, DS, my parents and I packed unnecessary things to make the house less cluttered. We washed windows and curtains. Shined countertops and sinks. Cleaned the turtle tank, the garage/barn and even had DS make his room reasonably presentable (teenage boy... 'nough said). The realtor came over on Saturday and we signed the listing papers!!!!! We are still miles from being moved, but at least now I won't have a panic attack if someone wants to come for a showing. We are finally on the way to getting this one sold.
I took some pictures for the realtor to use in the listing. I thought I would share some for posterity. We have been here for almost 8 years and even though the house has never really matched my personality like the one we are moving to and the one we built before this I will have some very fond memories.
Needless to say with all the housework going on not much time for quilty happenings. I am so anxious to get my quilt from the previous post put together. It has been calling to me from my sewing table. I did start some packing work in my bedroom/sewing room today and had to sit and sew a few nine-patches before I could get anything done. :>)

i think i'm gonna love it

I have been so anxious to get this quilt done to a point that I could lay it out and see what it is going to look like. I think I'm going to love it. :o) I still have a ton of the nine-patches left to make, but I couldn't wait. Sorry the picture is so dark.
We had our quilt guild meeting tonight and passed along our round robin quilts. I don't think I am going to be able to do what I had in my mind for the Christmas tree because the triangle border is too delimiting. We have to do squares and or rectangles. I was thinking about wonky packages. Maybe I'll still give it a try, but I'm not as excited about it as I would have been if the triangle border blended better.

my NEW sewing room

I have been so anxious to use my new sewing room. I would like to move everything in and get it all arranged, but I'm not sure I can live without my fabric and stuff until we move for good. It might be better for showing this house if I took everything out of our bedroom since it is a little crowded, but then what would I do with myself and about those round robin quilts I am going to be getting every month. I have no idea how I am going to be able to keep this place clean for showings. My cleaning style is sort of chaos and clutter. We all tend to have flat surface disease and I open cupboards and shove things in for company. It looks nice, but I think buyers might be snooping . :c / I hope the first people who look buy it so I won't have to straighten up very often. It looks like we aren't going to make our June 4th moving date even if the first customers offer. My husband has told DS to go ahead and apply for jobs here, so I guess we are here for the summer unless this house sells.
This is about half of my new sewing space. I think I will put my sewing cabinet against the long wall beside the door. My ironing board and design wall should go between the 2 openings to the storage area. My cutting station will go in front of the windows. (can you tell I have been thinking about it a lot?)
This space is in the barn. DH said I wouldn't want to work out here much because it is so removed from the rest of the house. I told him I was putting his recliner and a wall mounted TV at this end so he could keep me company while I sew. ;o)
We spent last weekend frantically cleaning, packing and repairing to get our current house ready to go on the market. We took a break on Mother's Day to take me out to dinner *vbs* and a trip to Home Depot for house fixing supplies. I have heard that the housing market in this area is getting softer by the day. :o\ Figures. We will just have to hope for the best.

round one

I did get some time to quilt this weekend. I got the first round done for our quilt group's Round Robin. I should be safe posting this since the person it belongs to doesn't even know I have a blog. I had a little bit of a tough time deciding on the border. This round was triangles and as you can see her entire block was hst's. I decided to go with a narrow black border to end the triangles in the block so I could build on that. I am reasonably happy with the outcome although I did add 14" to the 16" block. Hopefully not everyone wants to do such a wide border or her's is going to end up huge. We trade next Tuesday and the next block I am getting will be a Christmas Tree. I will have to do squares and/or rectangles. I have an idea kicking around in my brain, but I have to wait to see what the triangle border looks like.

i wish there were more hours in the day

I am feeling very overwhelmed by the amount of work that still needs to be done before we can move. DS is going to graduate on June 4 and we were supposed to be in the new house a week after that. It doesn't look like that is going to happen since this house isn't even on the market yet. It's very hard to sell an empty house. I have been trying to pack things that will make this one look less cluttered (my basic decorating style is clutter) and get them to the other house while leaving enough here so it looks inhabited. So far all I seem to have done is make a mess of 2 houses instead of 1.
Last weekend we took a load over including the lawn mower. DH mowed the lawn while I started unpacking. :o) That was very exciting. Everything we had taken over so far had just been put in it's appropriate room still in it's box. There are some built in bookshelves in the living room so I washed all the shelves and started unloading boxes of books. I got a couple of shelves filled and started on the bookcase we brought for the dining room. Everyone keeps books in their dining room don't they? After I finished putting the books away I put my teddy bear that always lives on my staircase on the step. :D Now it's home.
I also spent an hour or so washing down the walls and shelves in the pantry so now it's ready to start moving some of the kitchenware we can live without for a month or so. This is in the corner of the kitchen beside the firepalce. I think the first realtor we looked at the house with thought I was loony because I got all excited by this pantry. I love old houses because they always have these little built in cubby hole type things. I really dislike wasted space. I know, now y'all think I'm loony too. It is going to be a very useful space though. I hate appliances on the countertop. I'm going to put all our small appliances in there as well as canned goods and items that we don't use as often like the wok. I'll get a picture after it's full. You're going to love it.

i'm not lost

I have just been really, really busy. I am planning to catch up this weekend. DH is planning some golf so I can blog instead of pack and not feel guilty. ;o)
